Below is my listing information.
Crescent Moon Designs' works with authors, writers, publishing companies and organizations, transforming their manuscript into a book or publication through detailed design layout and thorough editing. My goal is to create something that is beautiful and visually-appealing, reflecting the author's personality and vision, as well as the contents. There's a saying "DON'T JUDGE A BOOK BY IT'S COVER;" well, that may be true, but it's the cover that can contribute to attracting a larger audience, and creating more clients, sales and speaking engagements.
The company is solely owned and operated by Susan Houck, directly from my home-based office. I am a designer and editor with twenty-five years' experience working on a variety of manuscripts ranging from a basic book layout to technical manuscripts containing images, columns, tables and even equations. I work closely with my clients, providing frequent updates throughout the editing and design phase. Once the publication has been submitted for printing and publishing, I stay in contact until the finished product is in their hands. After working so closely together, both of us with the same goal, often times we become friends and I have kept in contact with several over the years.
Why start a new business at age 50, you might ask? Because I felt my creativity itching to be released. In the beginning, while still employed, I was able to release my creativity by designing custom greeting cards and announcements for myself and my family. What makes my business unique comes from the relationship that I develop with my clients. While listening to them, I hear the passion and love they have for what they've written, and from that we develop a bond. Their passion becomes my passion, and it is as if we are one . . . the writer and the designer working together to create a piece of art we can both equally be proud of.
